First Home meet of the season
We had our first and only home meet on the second of April I through hammer and Discus there. I through a big pr in hammer of 35m and also through a pr in discus. I am looking forward to seeing how I do in hammer and discus after making some changes things should improve. So far things are looking good and the rest of the team did well. We should be looking good once we get to our conference meet.
Outdoor All Ohio
This past Saturday was the outdoor all Ohio track meet which took place at Ohio Wesleyan university near Columbus. For this meet I just through Javelin because my coach wanted me to improve my mark for conference. Went in and didn't perform as well as I wanted but it was good experience and we'll see where it leads. But the rest of the throws team did very well we had multiple people just miss making finals or make finals. I am looking forward to seeing what we do as a team over these next couple weeks and at our conference meet.
Top ten songs that represent my life
Music has always played a big role in my life from I grew up on country my mom was always listening to it but I also like rap and some heavier rock. I listen to most genres and like most of them. I think a song the plays a big role in my life would be all I want by A Day to Remember. The song says "Keep your hopes up high and your head down low" which I've always been able to relate to of working hard but also not starting shit and staying out of other peoples business. Boom by Simple Plan is a song that I don't exactly still like but it reminds me of time spent with a friends a great festival call Vans Warped Tour going around to different stages and listening to great music. Follow you by Bring Me The Horizon reminds me to never follow someone blindly whether a friend or authority to always think about what you are doing and to step back and look at the bigger picture. Hail to the King by Avenged Sevenfold just reminds me of high school track at the time it was one of my friends favorite songs and we'd have it playing loud in my high school weight room and just getting after it. Late Night in my car by Real Friends is a song I just relate back to taking a road trip with some friends in high school before we all got busy with college. I like most genres of music including country which I grew up on. I can relate to Tattoos on this town by Jason Aldean this song just reminds me of my hometown. It's a small farm town I grew up in a small school where everyone knew everyone. Staying the country genre another song I like is Those I've Loved Eric Church this reminds me of past relatives but also people who played a major role in my life and in making me who I am today. Sure eels right by Jake Owen whenever I here this song I don't exactly think of one time but it always reminds me of nights spent with friends whether high school or college and the nights I will always remember and talk about when I'm old. Them Boys by Brantley Gilbert is a song my and my friends kinda fit from high school I was definitely a bit more out and about with my friends in high school then my siblings and that could sometimes worry my mom.

five skills I wish to gain
I think five skills I would like to gain in college would be to get better at writing papers. I feel like being a better writer will not only help in college but in the future also. I also want to get better with time management. I feel like it would be easier if I planned ahead and was able to get things done earlier instead of waiting till the last minute. Also getting better at speeches. I feel like after college I will continue to use this and it is a good skill to have. I think better study skills will help. These will help through college and make things easier to get done. I think better communication skills would be helpful. Whether it's talking to friends, speaking in public or writing a paper I think that the better I can express my ideas and feelings the better off I will be.

Style in Hitchcock films
Hitchcock had many different factors that affected his movies and the filming of them. He had his own style and we see throughout the effects of ethics, psychology, technology and science, and the historical context of his films.
Hitchcock used a lot of psychology throughout his films. Throughout the party Alicia and Devlin are trying to get into the wine cellar to find see what is hiding down there. They finally get down there and break a wine bottle. Alexander has to go down and investigate after trying to figure out what they were doing down there and if they found out what was in the bottles.
In this film they are using Alicia to help the government capture the Nazis and find out what they are doing. When Alicia and Devlin are down there they find the bottles which have uranium in them the Nazi's would want this to be able to make nuclear weapons. For the time Hitchcock used technology at lot in his movie he his use of Uranium in the movie not only as a weapon but to poison Alicia. Also Hitchcock would use different camera angles in his movies to get the angles he wanted to be able to create the mood in the shot he wants.
Throughout these movies Hitchcock use of these four things are what he was able to do to make his movies great. The historical context use of psychology and the technology all were able to be used to make his movies great.

Ethics in Notorious
During the 1940s, morals and ethics played a large role in motion pictures. Hitchcock portrayed ethics in some very interesting ways in his films. In many scenes, he also found ways around being completely ethical, but still staying within the guidelines. Some specific parts where this can be seen in Notorious are in some of the women’s clothing, the kissing, alcohol and drunk driving, women being a part of an undercover job, and women participating in adultery.
The clothing that women wore throughout the 1940s was meant to form a sort of silhouette. Woman wore dresses with broad, wide shoulders and tight waist bands to form an hourglass shape. In Notorious, you can see that Alicia wears long, tight waisted dresses with square shoulders. This gives her an hourglass shaping to her body and makes her look professional. You can even see when she wears the suit on the airplane that it still follows these ideal aspects.
Throughout Notorious Alicia (Ingrid Bergman) and Devlin (Cary Grant) begin to become closer as they work together undercover. Eventually, the two find themselves in love. Of course being in love requires some kissing scenes, though this was difficult in the 1940s. The Production Code of 1930 was created to set some moral guidelines for motion pictures in the United States. This occurred during the period of Silent Movies switching to Sound. Due to the code, “Excessive and lustful kissing, lustful embraces, suggestive postures and gestures, were not to be shown.” This meant that even though they were in love, Ingrid and Cary could not show their characters’ true emotions. Hitchcock’s way around this was to have the couple do multiple short kisses, rather than one long kiss. Though it may look odd if you were to watch Notorious today, it was a very clever way around the rule then to be able to still show passion in his movies.
One scene portrayed in Notorious showed Alicia driving a car with Devlin after a party. The scene clearly shows Alicia is under the influence of alcohol as she is swerving all over the road and she cannot see straight. After World War II, the car market was on a rise. Everyone was buying cars and most drivers were uneducated. Laws prohibiting drunk driving began in 1910 but intoxication was not clearly defined at this point. In the 1930s lawmakers stated that a driver with a BAC of 0.15 percent or higher is inebriated. By the 1970s DUI laws become more strict and the legal drinking age was raised to 21. Today, drunk driving is an incredibly unethical action and a driver with a BAC of 0.08 percent is considered inebriated. In 2014, 9,967 people died and 290,000 people were injured in accidents due to drunk driving. In the 1940s, drunk driving may not have been seen as unethical as it is today because the laws that were placed then were not as strict as today. Also, less accidents had been reported then versus today.
In Notorious, we see one of the main characters, Alicia Huberman played by Ingrid Bergman, get thrown into the world of covert intelligence and spy business. What many don't know is that if this was actually set in the late 1940’s, Alicia might not be there. Women were not a big part of federal intelligence agencies during that time period, as far as field agents. Now during WWII, there was a substantial increase in women police officers, but even they were put on leash for what they could do while in the law enforcement. Indeed there were women in agencies, but they were doing desk work. Field agents were seen as a “thing only for boys”. It wasn't until 1972, that women were allowed to join FBI training. This goes to show that Alfred Hitchcock wanted to make his film stand out, and probably got heads to turn when they saw what a woman was doing in the film.
During the movie Notorious, after Alicia and Alex get married, Alex keeps suspecting her of having an affair with Devlin. Back in this time period, there was a different belief about marriages. They encouraged women to think of marriages as a successful career. They believed that it was the women's job to make sure the marriage was happy, his career was successful and that it didn’t end in divorce. Even if the problem in the marriage was alcohol or an affair from the men, it was the wife's job to change something to bring him back home. There was a thought back then that the wife was supposed to make the marriage work and nothing was her fault even if the man was having an affair. If a woman had an affair in the time period, it was much more taboo and less common than a man. If the woman had an affair it looked bad on the husband and not her.

First Outdoor meet
This last Saturday we had our first outdoor meet. It was the rose hulman early bird invitational. After indoor I've been working on throwing Discus and hammer. My first event of the day was hammer which my first throw was just over 30m after that I had my best throw of the day at 32.50m my last throw of the day was around 35m but I ended up fouling it. After shot put was done we moved onto discus. I didn't have the best discus meet and fouled my first three throws I saved my last throw but it wasn't good. This first meet was a good experience I now know what to expect at these meets and what I think I will do better at home meet this weekend.

End of Indoor season
With the conference track meet that marked the end of our indoor track season. With that we are now in a transition phase trying to recover from indoor season and get ready for the beginning of outdoor season. For myself that means I get to throw my favorite event discus and start to learn Hammer and Javelin. I'm looking forward to seeing what our team will do outdoor. I feel that we are definitely a better outdoor track team then indoor. It should be a good season and I am looking forward to seeing what will happen.
week 8 blog
Dear High school Senior,
When getting to college there are many differences that we don't think about when we are in high school. There are differences in classes and social life. One major difference is college courses aren't direct continuation of high school. We go into college thinking that our classes are going to be continuations of what we learned in high school. Professors also think the same thing and that we are supposed to have this prior knowledge from high school which a lot of times isn't true. Also the principle of academic freedom allows professors to teach differently. In high school walking into your math or English class you can expect a similar style of teaching to your past years. When you walk into a college class many professors have there own style of teaching that you need to adapt to and be able to learn the material and be able to take notes. There won't be as many reminders for papers and presentations. Make sure to check the due dates on your syllabi and write them down or save them somewhere. Write down when things need to get done and you'll need time management skills. In high school you can procrastinate and not worry about getting things done. In college projects are harder they take longer and there is more work that needs to get done. I think we create these myths to try not to scare ourselves as much when going into college. We also want to think that when coming into college we are prepared for what we are going to be doing in class and the work that needs to be done. We try to be prepared coming out of high school but we need to realize it's going to take a lot more work then high school did.
Sincerely Andrew

Conference track meet
We hosted the HCAC indoor conference track meet this Saturday. We had many throwers qualify to be able to throw there. Javier was ranked in the top 10 and was the highest ranked freshmen in the field. Josh was ranked 6 in the weight throw going in. Josh went on to throw a big pr and place third in the weight. Javier came close to his pr and was able to place 4 and Zach was able to place 8. We are improving and are going to be a better team outdoors.
Biggest regret
I think my biggest regret right now is in both school and sports in high school I could've done more. I did just enough to get a few A's and a couple B's in high school to keep a good GPA but i feel like if i would've actually applied myself I could've done a lot better. I put a lot of time in to track in high school but as I look back now I feel like there are things I could've done better and worked harder at. I wish I would've had the knowledge I have now and been able to put that towards my training. I don't feel regret because I am doing what I can now to do better at both of these things. I am working harder in my classes and with throwing to get better and improve my marks. I feel at the time we tell ourselves lies and deceive ourselves so we don't realize till later what we were missing out on.

Home track meet
We had a home track meet last Friday. This was the last indoor track meet that I could throw in. I was looking forward to the meet after practice had been going well for me throughout the week. Warm ups went well then my first competition throw was out at about 10.60m. This throw was alright but not near my pr. My second throw was a wide right sector foul and probably would've been a pr. My last throw of the meet it came together I was able to pr with a throw of 11.60m. I was happy to pr but thought i was going to throw farther.
TED talk Pamela Meyer
In Pamela Meyer's TED talk she says that lying is a cooperative act and that for someone to get lied to they also have to agree with the person and it has to go that way. By lying you are saying what you wished you would've done in that situation. I agree with these statements and that lying is a cooperative act and that it goes both ways. No one likes to get lied to but everyone does it to a extent. Everyone lies at some point and uses it to get out of a situation or extend a story but it hurts to get lied to. By looking at the person lying's eyes while there smiling you can tell it's faked. If you look at there shoulder and how they use there eyes and if they look at you or look to much. You could use these to pick out a liar. It could be good in certain situations and when it is necessary to know the truth. I think honesty it worth preserving I think with social media and the way society is going lying is becoming more common and we are believing it more. If more people are aware of how to read someone lying and not believe them it'll become harder for them to be believed

With the nicer weather this weekend my friends and I decided to actually get to throw outside. We all mostly through discus with some of us throwing hammer. I just through discus and had a pretty good practice. I worked on technique and was able to get some good throws in. We threw for awhile it was nice to be able to finally get outside and get some throws in since we've been stuck inside.
Commercials
All three of the commercials were trying to appeal to different people. The iphone commercial wanted to appeal to anyone who doesn't have a iphone and show the many different people that own them. The samsung commercial was funny and showed many different races and with the humor it would appeal to all people. The last commercial by showing the little kid and the car it could have a sentimental feeling to it to appeal to families and the type of people that would be interested in buying that car. We have to be critical with commercials to appeal to the people who would be able to buy whatever the commercial is for and would also be interested in buying these items.

First home track meet
This week we had our first home track meet. We practiced the whole week and for me they were going really well especially earlier in the week I was looking for a big pr. The night before we worked a high school meet that we hosted. It went well with a pretty good turn out of teams. I only throw weight indoor. Things were feeling good leading up the meet. My first throw was good and was close to my pr. My next throw wasn't as good and it was something I did. My last throw which I wanted to be good I ended up fouling on. It was a decent meet in all you can't expect to pr every meet but i'm staying consistent.
Childhood memory
When I was younger we used to make almost yearly family trips to go to cedar point. We don't live far from cedar point so my mom, dad, sister and I would make the trip to cedar point and spend a day in the park. They would ride the bigger rides when and I would ride rides like the mine cart or some of the other in snoopy land. Like any other kid growing up I wanted to be just like my dad. I would do a lot of the same things as him, I would try to look like him and when he was home i'd always follow him around.
One year it was a hot summer day we had been riding rides it was getting to be about mid day and we had brought food in a cooler and were going over to sit and eat in the picnic area. We went over everyone ate I had my peanut butter and jelly and my chips and my crackers. Now while I was sitting with my mom and my sister my dad decided to leave and go somewhere to get some coffee. I was playing at the time and my mom and sister were busy doing something else I had noticed my dad had left through the gate and went off into the park. I decided that I wanted to follow my dad. I set down my toys grabbed the handle to my little wagon and started to make my way towards the gate. I walked for a bit to get to the gate. When I got there I was to short to get the gate open after sometime a lady opened the gate for me and let me through. Once I had walked a little bit out into the park I looked around and couldn't find my dad. I just froze once I realized I couldn't see him and I couldn't get back into the gate. I then stood there with my wagon stuck in the park without anyone. I kept looking back and forth trying to figure out which way he went and where he could have gone. People kept walking past but none of them were him and none of them knew him or where he was. Lucky for me my dad was already on his way back from getting his coffee. He came up and was asking what I was doing and how I managed to get out into the park. I then told him the lady let me out and that my sister and mom were still eating. After we got back in where my sister and mom were both looking for me trying to figure out where I went and were looking around for me. I got in trouble of course once they knew I was ok and where I went.
With this memory I know for sure that it is real it'll get brought up by my family still every now and then. It really isn't that important of a memory it happened but is something I could have forgotten. But with other memories of my childhood and growing up I've brought up stories that I thought actually happened but never actually did. I've had both my parents and friends tell me things I thought for sure were real aren't at all. With little non important memories it isn't that big of a deal. But it could matter if it affects someone else or your view on something or someone.

Findlay track meet
Last Friday the track team had a indoor track meet at Findlay university. I was entered in one event the weight throw. There was three flights I was entered in the first flight. My warm up throws went well and felt good going into competition. My goal going into this meet was to pr. My first throw I was quick and it was short. My second throw I was more patient like my coach told me to be and I wasn't used to it and caged it. My last throw everything came together and I was able to pr with a throw of ten meters and sixty centimeters. After we got to watch two throwers who were competing unattached in the weight throw and will be throwing at the Olympics this year.

As I wake up I don't recognize where I am it looks like a jail cell and I look around. I don't know how I got here or remember any of the night before. I then reach into my pocket and find some items in my pocket. I find the keys to my car I remember my friends and I decided to go out for a few drinks. I then find a receipt from the bar and remember we ended up drinking a lot more then we meant to and met some interesting people. We decided to get a cab and go over to a different buddies house. I then find a note from someone I met at the party my friend was throwing. I also pull out a receipt from ordering pizza and for some reason decided to order enough for the whole party. Lastly I find another receipt from a gas station one of my friends through up in the cab he dropped us off and we went into the gas station I decided to try and fight the guy working the counter and I got arrested and my friends ran.
